Both also revolve around the journey of LGBTQ+ women, and what they experience throughout various points of their lives. THTR & CO is fortunate to present this regional premiere production of Poolside Glow, directed by Morgan Solonar, a former graduate from the University of Montana Theatre program and local Missoulian. Stop Kiss was originally written in 1998, yet its message still holds true today. Kinsey Sternad, one of the creators of THTR & CO, will show off her director hat, as you get to see yet another alumni of the UM’s Theatre program creativity at work. These plays will be packed with local talent, along with Blain Raford leading the technical design and process of this pair of plays. Cannot wait to see you there! Both plays contain intense subject matter, swearing, staged violence, and intimacy. Due to adult content, these shows are 18+. Sunday, April 9 // Door at 6:30 PM // Show at 7 PM // $15 // $20 Artist Supporter Ticket What if you fall in love with yourself the same way you fall in love with another? Winter in Pluto is an experimental musical that tells the myth of Stone, a love goddess who lives in the clouds and controls all acts of love on earth through her television set. Stone is the daughter of the goddess Venus and carries on the tradition of reuniting all beings with their “missing half.” Things change in Stone’s world when she begins questioning her inherited myth – the myth of love that has guided us all for centuries! Stone’s rebellion brings on a winter of change and a summer of self-discovery. Please join us on Easter Sunday for a special premiere screening of the film, an installation, and a live performance. Hell & Back – A Burlesque Revue, A Love Letter to Rosie & all MMIW2SR
Friday, May 5 // Door at 8 PM // Show at 8:30 PM // $10 General Admission // $20 VIP Front Row Seats // $80 Table (seats up to 5) “The middle of August 2020 was the last time Rosie was last seen alive. On May 4, 2021, we finally got confirmation that a body found in November 2020 was indeed Miranda Rose Kenmille, aka Rosie. Rosie was born on October 16, 1984. She was a wonderful sister, aunt, friend, cousin, and human. She had a passion for cooking, and music, and being there for us. Rosie, La, Allie, and Felicity are biologically my cousins, but my sisters and brothers by heart. When my mom passed away, they moved in with me and helped me. Rosie was also a big supporter of me and my goals as a burlesque dancer. She always encouraged me and gave me feedback on my choreography, music choice, and costuming. She was the second oldest and had a heart of gold and calmness about her. She really did make you feel like you could do anything. We laid her to rest on May 8, 2021. She was a rock for so many people. Not just me but also our sister Felicity. They were always like two peas in a pod. The headstone we would like to get Rosie is $1,200. I am hosting this show and another show on Friday, October 13, 2023, at KwaTaqNuk on our reservation to help pay for the headstone and placement.” – Violet Passion, founder of Violet Passion Studios For further information, accessibility, and inquiries please visit https://www.zootownarts.org/meet-the-zacc/about/.
‘Sports of Nature’ A New Play by Shaun Gant
April 13, 14, 15, 16 at 7:30 PM (Doors at 7) // Matinees on April 15 & 16 at 2 PM (Doors at 1:30) // $20 // $15 Students & Seniors Sports of Nature takes a humorous look at the serious subjects of AI, human obsolescence, and the pending hybridization of humans and computers. You know, “the chip” we’re all about to have implanted in our brains! The characters, two cellphones, an iPod, a flip phone, and a human being set up some silly fun, but the play definitely raises ethical questions about how we deal with technology in our lives. Is this the Anthropocene, the Technocene, or simply of the unholy alliance between human and machine? This play explores the promise and absurdity of how we use rapidly evolving technology – a romp through the dawdling ethics guiding our lives. Saturday and Sunday matinees begin at 2 PM, with doors at 1:30 PM, and include a panel discussion on tech ethics after the play. Sports of Nature is written by poet and playwright Shaun Gant, who has produced work for Montana stages since the early 90’s and is a staple of the theatre scene in Missoula. Alex Kowalchik, local theatre maker, and co-owner of ShowTyme Academy, directs the world premiere of Sports of Nature. The show is the first offering from his production company ZDK. Third Ear Productions, long a champion of local independent playwrights in Missoula, partners with ZDK to present this full length comedy. The cast of Sports includes veteran stage, TV, and film actors Nathan Adkins, Jackie Vetter, Emily Branch, Annika Charlson, and Sam Orr. The show is managed by Jensen Hill, costumed by Melissa Moss-Larson, and lighting/set designed by Markus Paminger. For further information, accessibility, and inquiries please visit https://www.zootownarts.org/meet-the-zacc/about/.
