The Montana-based electronic duo, Gilda House, is out to snare your soul with their new single “Give Me Some”, a synthpop smasher that leans toward the shadow inside. The group is comprised of Tony Morales – guitar/keys/backing vocals/production, and the relentless engine of this machine, Meg Gildehaus – lead vocals/bass synth/writing/ engineering and production. With 2019’s You’re Invited, Gilda House was born as Meg’s brainchild. 2021 brought the second release, AB Side A, along with the rest of the band, a sold out album release show, and a fresh electric presence on stage. The two spent the past year perfecting their voice and solidifying their sound. This is most evident on their new single “Give Me Some.” Mixed by Grammy nominated producer Alex Newport, “Give Me Some” is resonant of the 90s without the nostalgic emptiness that usually follows in modern revivals. Instead, the song pounds a path forward to the future, blending the band’s deeper exploration into a more focused, modern sound. Pulsing, deep-pocket bass, intimate vocals and sizzling synths wind their way into your ears, imploring you to dance. The space and the haunting vocals create a cinematic ambiance that draws the listener in and urges them to be truly involved. Reminiscent of the best parts of Portishead, but with some teeth, Gilda House achieves a poignant and urgent groove.
Increasingly known for their energetic live show, Gilda House has been performing across their home state; not an easy task in the expanse of Montana. Playing the mainstage for Missoula’s State Pride Festival and opening for Milky Chance are a taste of the shows they are beginning to stack up, yet no matter the city, Gilda House is notorious. Their shows invite the audience in to be part of the mood, a part of the show. Feel the synths. Feel the bass. Forget where you are. Disappear.
